RCD Lift Kit

Did you run into any problems?

No, everything went rather smoothly. My truck only had around 30,000 on it when I lifted it so all the bolts came out easily and there was no rust on the parts. If yours has a few miles on it I would start soaking the bolts that will need to be removed with PB blaster a week or so before you do the lift.

I think I'm gonna wait till spring. I could use all the help I can get. Thanks for all the advice kozal, I really appreciate it

Yeah I got it. It seems to be all there. Is this more of a weekend project? Cuz I have access to a garage with a lift but its only after hours so I couldn't leave the truck there, it would have to done in one shot

Yeah id give yourself a couple days to do it so you can take your time with it.

No. It let the differential twist down so the pinion u-joint hit the cross member and it made a bunch of noise but nothing else broke.

When Trevor's went, it was very similar to yours. 2wd wasn't that bad since there's no power, but 4wd and 2' of snow on the ground, proved him to have a broken truck til it was fixed. lol. 4wd that thing rattled and slapped and shook steering wheel and wore a hardcore groove in the rear x-member...

But I have heard horror story's about that bracket breaking and blowing holes in the dif!! Def support before install !!

Never have I ever heard that about any 98+ IFS Ranger. It's near impossible....the passenger side bracket helps prevent the axle from rotating that much. Only thing I see under there that could possibly cause "blowing holes in the diff" would be to drop the truck on a chunk of rebar sticking up....you know, Cable Guy death style. lol.

How tough of a job is it to do yourself?

Having installed 3 superlifts, granted they're not RCD's but similar in install, and removed and worked on 1 RCD, it's pretty straight forward. The hardest part of the job was unloading the bars safely without the proper tooling and fishing that diff in and out. The welding part may be difficult for you depending on experience and what kind of friends you've got. Took myself and two others about 6 hours to install the first, 5 for the second, 4 for the third.

You may be able to download the instructions still from somewhere. Or I may even have them in a pdf file somewhere. I'll take a peek in the externals for ya. I know you can download Superlift instructions...those'll give you a good idea for a how-to.

And here's another way to reinforce it that bracket...
