See I try to drift mine, but it gets way out of hand. Although last time I was whipping donuts in the middle of a stop light it sure got some attention. a 5.0 with a locked set of 3.73s and 235s is a fun combo

yeah i cant even imagine having a 5.0 lol. I could drift it on pavement then, and not just snow and gravel hahaha

I think i'll just sell my sled, and refinance the ranger and have a butt load more cash per month.... maybe... to many friggin choices

lol pavement, yeah its kind of fun. If you go by what the scales say for my ranger and the general accepted weight of a fox body I am only 300lbs heavier. I enjoy it. Plus no one expects it so I can lay low. Plus there are 4 other trucks like mine in town (red 4th gen super cabs). So I can get away with a lot

yeah, staying under the radar would be good lol.

If i did a 5.0 swap id have a stupid quiet muffler so no one would suspect its got a V8.

then Id do an electric exhaust cutout, for those moments you wanna scare the living crap out of someone lol.

i keep going back and forth.

I have a quiet exhaust, stock exit. 2.5 diameter with no tip lol

5.0 is fun but its a pain in the rear really. Specially on your platform you have a lot of electronics to deal with. Mine was straight forward.

it wouldnt be too too bad. i've actually done quite a bit of research on it.

id need a 99-01 explorer 5.0, and all electronics. as they have the same fuel system as the 01+ rangers, PATS would really be the only big issue i think. explorer is type B, and my ranger is type E, so something would have to be done about that, and im not sure what as i havent looked that far into it.

but it should be too too bad. not as bad as it would be to use a mustang engine or something else.
i think i have settled on only selling my snowmobile, and keeping the ranger.
should drop my monthly payments by $300
so that will be nice. and i dont ride the thing enough to justify the high price anyways.

on a side note, i parked my truck flexxed out on a snowbank at work haha. will have to get a pic. shes flexxed out pretty darn good

lol still seems like a lot of work, for mine I had to have a 97 or older system. My ranger doesnt have PATS. So I had to adapt the fuel system for that but other than that its a bolt in deal

Won't be as easy as dropping in a lower mileage 5.0, but as far as engine swaps go, wouldn't be super hard either.

in all honesty you would be farther ahead just doing some upgrades to that SOHC 4.0 you have. The 5.0 in explorers wasnt really a big power maker. Yes its a much better platform but over all its still a dog in factory trim

the new lift coil springs i ordered for my mom's truck arrived, all 4 of 'em. which sucks 'caus i only need two, and didin't realize they billed me for two pairs. the one time i didin't check the email order comformation. friggin pissed about this now, anyone need a pair of lift coils for an isuzu trooper?

might be what i wind up doing, gonna call the company first and see if they'll do anything. i ordered 1 pair but somehow it went through as two. which i'd be fine with if i didin't get billed for two pairs. thankfully i might have already found a buyer for 'em if the company won't refund anything.

i think im going to get a cherokee xj because of the price of a wrangler. i would have to wait about two months before having the money for a wrangler and it woudnt be a very nice one. i will get more for my money if i buy a cherokee.

Haha with out research we found that they have a weak spot in the frame and I don't want a Japanese made car.

Weak spot in the frame is an age old ranger trick too!

yeah the one we've got has honestly been a great vehicle, and as far as the suspension and everything goes it's built like a tank. worst part is parts are expensive, but we've figured ways around that most of the time. i gotta grab a pic of ours with the new lift.

Isuzu isn't exactly a front runner name so I can only imagine parts are expensive
