Coil over information

Hooligan

Rangerholic!!
I am doing the coil over swap and looking for some help. If anyone has any tips on the install with pics **coughFX4Wannabe01** please throw it in here!

Pics of setups, welds for gussets and anything else pertaining to it would be helpful!

Also, I could use some inout on removing the torsion bars as well. I am doing this solo, so all input would help!

I gave some advice on trs.

There is a big thread on rf when we did mine. Some of the pics I think are gone though since it was from 09 or so.

You can rent a gear puller from auto zone if you want to do it right or just the bottle jack.

I replied on TRS, Thanks! I just need to know how to take the torsion bars off and whatever else I can get my hands on!

They are perfect dude! The welds and upper mount is what I was wondering about, other than that, location on the bottom baracket and what you used to drill the steel would be a huge help!

As I said no more pics, I will look.
The drill was standard drills but I alway drill using 3 step, 3 different sized drills.

It is nice without the t-bars on the underside.
Most people have to double take on the truck when they first look her over.

First side look says something is missing.

I'm gonna be doing my own conversion soon too :)

That’s all folks !

Mine are pretty much just like Scrambler's. Except my support gusseting is more angled out instead of being almost parallel. As well as more angled at the top....this allows for easy installation of the upper coil-over bolt. My experience with the couple RCD kits I used to personally work on, many bolt the kit together THEN weld the gussets. If the gussets are too high up, you CANNOT remove the upper coil-over bolt unless you grind. And you've gotta get that out first if you need to remove the upper brackets for any reason.

I made my kit with about 3 test fittings and test parts and cardboard plus the experience of working on a couple RCD kits. In fact my lower mounts are near exact copies of RCD 'cause I used a RCD lower mount as reference to build mine. 1/4" material for gussets and upper mounts, I believe 3/16" for lower mount.

Get yourself a set of Jeep TJ front brake lines. They're longer, have the same exact thread sizes/banjo sizes as the stock Ranger lines. Many use them when they're double lifted regardless of coil-over or not. Grind away the locating tabs, and you can bolt the bracket on the line to the frame using the stock bolts.

Get the coil-over wrenches!!!! Makes it way easier. When I was putting mine in, I had way too much preload....the whole truck kept raising up when I tried to get the knuckle bolted back up. Loosened 'em up some and it was money. Ride height perfect on both sides.

Pay attention to where the bump stop used to be in the pics below. It needs to be clearanced for coil clearance. I WAY over cut mine thanks to an out-of-control saw-zall operator (me). lol.
