my next daily driver??

ok so ive been thinking about what i want to get for my next vehicle. this will be after college and get a job. (2yrs ish)
im thinking i want to get a car thats different and not gay, and gets decent mileage, and in the $5k-6K range. then the plan is to find a late 60s ford truck, drop it down and build my dream truck. then get a boat and pull it with this 60s ford instead of a DD truck.

ive been scouring CL but cant figure out what id want. i think the mercedes diesels are neat but im not to informed on these diesels vs. gas and that could be bad if something breaks lol.
so thats my thinking and im bored lol so what are your thoughts??

that sounds like an awesome idea. i always love seeing old trucks around town. im the guy who youll see sticking his head out the window trying to follow a car that goes by or almost crashing from watching it to far. for me i hope my next dd to be a cherokee to get me through college and michigan winters. than hopefully a wrangler once i graduate. ive always wanted a jeep ever since my brother had his wrangler.

thanks man. if youve ever seen the show fast and loud, they did a 68 f100 and id love to make it something like that but my way :D
thats a good idea with the cherokee, theyre supposed to be pretty damn reliable. i saw in an offroad mag (petersons or fourwheeler??) that they were in the top ten starter vehicles for wheeling. wranglers are nice, too bad theyre so pricey...

but idk i think id want a car moreso, could save me more moola to work on the project truck

that show is awesome. its my favorite car show. i saw that truck that they did and it was awesome and the guy drives a raptor around. my friend has a grand cherokee that has the crap beat out of it and it has over 210k on it and its still running strong. ill be looking for the 4.0 inline 6 for the mpg and i dont need that much power. i would leave it mostly stock except for some lights and a sound system. maybe a 2 in lift.

yea man i love that show so much, i wish i lived in texas just to be able to find the vehicles they do in such decent shape. wow that sounds damn tough, yea probably a good idea to keep it stock but its so hard not to mod anything lol

yea same in ct most of the old cars are all rusted. (like the frame of my truck). i know what you mean when i got my truck i expected to leave it stock now i cant stop thinking of new mods for it. ill probably mostly focus on the interior of the jeep by adding comfort things like grand cherokee seats, gentex mirror, and sound system.

yea rust sucks, hopefully when im looking for my next vehicle itl be under 10 yrs old. yea those sound like cool mods. i wish i had done more mods like that versus lowering mine... i really wish they would have explained it DID need to be shimmed a bit for the pinion angle. my rear end makes more noise than i remember (lol)

You could prob get an early 2000s Mitsubishi OZ rally edition, they arent that common, offer great reliability, good MPG and hey you can say you own a Mitsu Lancer. :p
Something like this. it has 85,000 miles and cost about $6,500 so it fits your criteria :p

thats sweet! itl probably be cheaper when im actually in the market too lol. is that AWD?

Mitsubishi is junk I've owned 2. Motors are strong but the transmissions are weak. Now a lancer why bither gettin one unless its an Evo. And Mitsubishi AWD cars really aren't great there more of a FWD car than anything.

I would suggest getting one with a manual. And I dont about how it is in the states but mitsubishi has been offering 10 yr powertrain warranty since early 2000.

nice, what year/years are you meaning?
how easy are they to work on?

good to know, thanks man
i had an 88 rabbit diesel, 2 87 rabbit trucks diesel, 91 jetta diesel, 99 golf tdi and finally a 03 jetta tdi, they were all strong, and the mk1 and mk2 are the easyiest, basicly no computer systems so they are easy to work on

wow nice! ok thanks man thats good to know

yeah the mk1 and mk2 are nutless a mother **** so they have like 55 ish hp so dont be expecting going fast, but the mk3 are great for like highways because they have bigger diesels and have more power with great gas mileage
