Hello guys. I bought some cab lights off Hurley about a week ago and decided to take the plunge and install them today. I am still in the process of finishing up so no pics yet

The following is rated D: Depressing. Reader discression is advised

Heres my 2 cents on cab lights: totally not worth it. I have sank over 5 hours into mine and I am still not done. I have honetly screwed up more stuff on my ranger in the past hour than I have in the year of owning it. If I could go back and NOT even start this project, I would. Ill admit, they look pretty cool sittin up there all nice and tall but its so labor intensive its not even funny.

The first hour was measuring, measuring, measuring. I remeasured my measurements 3 times over to make sure they were perfect but still couldnt figure out how to make them look straight. I figured Id figure that out when Im ready to silicone them down for good. Then I moved on to headliner removal. Iv done it before, so no big deal here. Even patched a spot I missed when doin my Camo. Then on to the hole cutting... This step almost made me sick to my stomach. Theres just somethin about cutting 5 holes in your cab that makes ya uneasy... This went ok. Some of my holes were a little chewed up but theyd be covered up by the lights anyways. Then I realized I didnt have a drill bit large enough to fit the bulb holder through so I forced em. Almost screwed up one of em. Then I used a self taping screw to screw on the ground for the lights using an existing hole. Put the headliner back in only to realize the hole I used for my ground was for the retainer for the sunvisor... Went to put my trim back on and broke a clip on one of em. Then on to electrical... yay...

Ran the wire down my pillar and couldnt find anywhere to run it through the firewall so I just ran it through the door opening. Unprofessional but good enough. Then I realized that for some stupid reason, the guys at ford had their heads crammed up their lower colons when they did the fuse box. Every single fuse is hot even when the keys off. This meant I had to connect it to my turn signal. So I strung a wire from my cab lights to my front drivers side turn signal. Snipped it and rewired it with the cab light wire. Turned on my parking lights and... nothin. I managed to accidentally wire it into the ground... (theres no such thing as red and black anymore. Its grey and black with a gray line through it). So I attempted to rewire it into the hot wire and problem after problem. Tried black taping it and pulled the wires apart twice. Got mad, slammed my hood, and realized later that my turn signal housing was under it... Its now cracked. Got mad again and threw the turn signal connector and almost lost it. Tried rewiring it AGAIN and... nothin. Not sure what this time but I gave up and came inside to type this message. Anger issues + complicated vehicular stuff = bad mood elcaminoman :furious:

I feel you on that man, EVERY project I do turns into a fiasco.. I literally had to change my cv axle 3 times to get it done right.. The first replacment wasn't machined right at the wheel end of the axle, th e second time they gave me the one for the drivers side(needed pass) and then finally I went to napa and finally got the right one..

I said ill never do it again but iv learned a ton doin it and some day I might try it lol. Its just bein a pain right now. I think my blood pressure is through the roof right now lol

  7. This. I installed my OHC over two days. Cut the headliner and mounted it one day, then the wiring on today. Kept my cool, and it's actually really easy. I see where you come from on drilling the holes... It ain't like the headliner where you could just get another... lol Well, keep on chuggin' and you'll be happier with em when you're done.

What about instead of your blinker power you use the parking lights line, you could either run it to the switch or what about just running it all the way down to one of your parking lights?

Heres the payoff. Sure is purdy :)

I think a set of Ranger Emblem Turn Signals from Buggman would compliment these roof lights well
