Still having those wonderful front end problems...

  1. Brand new CV axles and brand new hubs still haven't fixed my problems yet. So even after all that, I still hear a grinding in the front end... I do have a blown pinion seal, and it's bleeding gear oil, but I don't think that it would cause such an audible grinding... So the only thing I could think of would be something in the diff? It sounds like it's coming from the front axle, so I doubt it would be anywhere else on the truck. Anybody have any insight to this? I finally have some money to get into her, so whatever needs fixing, I'll get done.

    Take it to a shop instead of waiting on us to diagnose it, unfortunately we cant see it from here.

    They're bad, but not causing it. It ain't a grinding that you can feel. It's just audible.

    you cant feal it when your dirvin so i think is no the cv i think its a low pad hiting your roter

    brake pads are cheap, if you know they are bad then replace them and see if that helps.

    my front brakes have given me a ton of sh*t the last few months, every time it's a differant noise / feeling, and every time i thought it was an axle or suspension problem. turned out to be a caliper slowly going bad, and getting progressivly worse.

    II have free replacements.... I just learned now that it grinds even worse when I shift it into 4wd. I'll have to see where's open tomorrow and let em check it out...

    Well, tell me a garage that's open past six around here then man... I was planning on taking it because I'm sick of working on the ****in thing already, and I thought maybe one of you guys had this problem before. But there ain't no garages open today here that do good work. Kota's going into the shop tomorrow for tie rods, so I was gonna ask him as well. Not only that, but lately the mechanics have all been telling me the wrong things are broken/worn out. So I've lost faith in 'em.

    Not at you, at this damn truck... I just want it to run right again. I kinda regret buying this one now. I knew it was beaten when I saw it, but my childish side kicked in and I had to get it because I liked it so damn much.

    Alright, so I talked about it to my ex-girlfriend's dad. He's a master mechanic in ten different makes.... He said it's either the diff or the driveshaft. I'm leaning more towards the diff... But I've been wrong before. Gonna have him check it out next time I see him.

    Not only was beaten but currently beaten. That front end isnt meant for sinking in mud and dirt, I have seen your pictures, I did it once and shredded my CV. You have done it alot more and if you say it was already beaten, you just make it worse on yourself. Once you get the issues fixed, I will make a bet with you. Keep in on the streets for one month and I guarantee nothing will go wrong. Then take it off road like you usually do 1 time and see what goes wrong.

    These trucks arent Bigfoot, Gravedigger or Triple X from WWE man. They can only take so much. You worry about the torsion bars being cranked, but not worried about sinking it past the differentials in mud and water when you pretty much have no idea of the service record prior to you buying it other than it was beat.

    Not to be a dick, but you get rid of that truck for another, drive it the same way, the same thing is going to happen. When you have new parts, it doesnt make the truck indestructible, they are just new parts you turn into old parts real fast by wheelin it, like you do, pulling larger trucks out from being stuck. You are lucky its the front end that is going, because if it were the transmission you would be in a whole other boat.

    If you have time, come up tomorrow, I want to hear this grinding myself. I wonder if its something as simple as organic pads rubbing like crap on the rotors

    I'm not able to come up tomorrow man, I won't have the truck... My dad's using it because his truck is going into the shop. I would if I could though...


    And I don't want to argue with you Clinton, but what about the Dakota? I did just as much and nothing went wrong. I don't think it's just the off roading... I have buddies with trucks that go way harder than me, and nothing goes wrong. Why is it just me? And every other guy on here whose truck has been off road, have y'all had many problems with parts breaking? Clinton, that CV was justf a fluke. Yes it don't help the truck, having all that mud on it, but it's not always the cause...

    Doing what wrong? I'm confused... That Dakota was out in the mud every weekend if not more and held up more than fine. Then I get this thing and get ****ed lol

    Lmao. Shoulda seen that coming. Well, as of right now the truck hasn't been off road in over a month.. I ain't planning on taking it through deep mud for a long time, until rausch creek rolls around, and I build my truck to take it. I'm looking into getting a set of warn lockout hubs instead of these weak auto hubs... So that takes care of that.

    You need to pull the CV's out and run it down the road. If there is no grinding, the diff is bad. Confirm this by engaging the 4wd, this will turn the diff. If the grinding comes back, you know what is going on.

    my hunch is that the pinion bearing(s) are shot. If its got a leaky seal, that means dirt, moisture and anything else can get inside. Also check the vent tube. If its broke water/dirt can enter thru that.
