Body Lift or Suspension Lift?

Hell all! I am looking to jack up my 2011 Ranger but dont know which route to take. I know the difference between them: body lift jacks up the body off the frame but doesnt change your ground clearance at all and a suspension lift jacks the frame off the axels and gives you more ground clearance. Simple! But the hard part is finding either one. Body lifts are fairly easy to come by. They costs between $100 and $300. Suspension lifts for my year Ranger are hard to find. I think I would rather have a full suspension lift just because of ground clearance but they costs $400 and go up from there.

Does anyone on here have a newer Ranger with a suspension lift that they like? And for everyone else, would you rather get a body lift or suspension? Thanks!

A body lift for your truck will run you about 200.00 and you can do it yourself. You will get 3" of lift and its cheap. My opinion is suspension lifts are nice but really expensive and not worth it. You can crank your torsion bars, and add lift shackles to the rear and boost it anothor 2" or a little more. So 200.00 for the Body lift, about 75-80.00 for the lift shackles for the rear, you crank your own torsion bars and you have 5" of lift for under 300.00

If you wanna do it right, go suspension. A suspension lift is gonna cost you like $2000 before installation. A body lift is only like $150. People only get a body lift to fit bigger tires. If you have the money then go for the gold

I dont have the money lol. I saw some "suspension" kits for $500 but they seem pretty cheaply made...

And does cranking the T-Bars affect anything? Will it cause excess wear?

Cranking your t bars with toe in your wheels, cause your hubs to wear quicker and cause a rougher ride

With my current rims my hubs are already gettin wore lol. Sounds like I need to scrape up $60 for an alignment

there is only one company that sells a suspension lift for the ranger and its only 4 inches. now unless u get a camburg lift which is like a racing lift kit.

  10. Your best bet is to go with the body lift for right now. The only company that makes a true suspension lift is Superlift, for 1600.xx on 4wheelparts.com. Them torsion keys are worthless, and only cause problems.

I figure 4 inches plus 3 with a body lift would give me 7 inches of lift! But thats a lot for a Ranger lol. I think Ill probably just go with a BL unless someone new comes on the market with a good, cheaper suspension. 3" makes these trucks look huge IMO

  12. Nah lol Mine is barely higher than my Kota at stock height lol Go look at Clinton's (a.k.a. Hooligan) truck. He has both on and is running 33s with it. But that's my opinion.

Just looked at Hooligans. His does look super nice. Thats the look im goin for lol.

Now wayyy off subject: what MPG do you get with your trucks lifted and bigger tires?

  14. I run 31" tires, and still get 17 mpg average.

I had a Tire guy ask me how bad my mpg was with my 285/60/R18s and I honestly said its about the same lol. I figure itll go down some because of wind resistance and such but these Rangers already get sucky mpg... It cant go down too much more lol

  16. What do you get?
