Supercharger

Hello, this is my first post, so please feel free to correct me if I do anything wrong.

I am looking into the possibility of adding a supercharger to my 2000 Ranger... I have a few questions concerning the changes I would have to make to my truck, answers I couldn't find on google. The supercharger in question will add 6-8 psi higher than regular atmospheric pressure... So here I go

Will the supercharger affect my cold air intake in any way?
Can I buy brackets to hold it online, or do I need to make my own? (I am capable of doing it myself if need be.)
I need to replace my serpentine belt anyway, should I go with the more expensive one, or will the cheaper one work? (I realize it will have to be longer.)
Will I need to replace my air intake tube to hold up to the higher pressure?
How and where do I get the engine tuned after I finish installing it?
With the supercharger, will I need to replace my fuel injectors because of the increased airflow? Cost?
Will I need to replace my tranny and drivetrain to hold up to the increased horsepower? If so what am I looking at costwise?

When I looked into putting a supercharger on my 08 4.0, at first I was like "this is gonna be awesome". Then I realized that simply adding in that supercharger opens a giant (I mean giant) can of worms. Our motors are made to withstand the pressure they run at stock. They are specificly made for that pressure because that's how they run the best/most efficient. Be prepared to pay out the ass for rebuilding your entire bottom end of your engine (the added pressure could blow out the entire bottom end, so replacing with higher quality is a necessity), replacing almost every part with higher quality parts that are made to withstand the higher PSI of a supercharger. As far as the stock intake, if it were me adding a super charger, I would add in a real CAI, one that would be better suited to bring in extra air for the charger, more air = more power. I would also add new headers and exhaust system so that it can breathe even better. When it comes to my engine, I try to never buy "cheap or cheaper" parts, especially when talking adding power to your motor or just in general, you don't want something to break and then you're stuck somewhere because you saved a few bucks. Remember you get what you pay for. As far as tuning goes, I would buy a tuner and get a custom tune. I would recommend SCT livewire tuners/programmers. Highly rated, widely used and you can get a tune by emailing them the specs of your vehicle. They can also create custom tunes for hauling, power, MPG, etc. I would recommend upgrading the trans, drivetrain but I have no idea on cost or if it's even necessary but if you're adding in power, usually the stock is only made to withstand the power plant it has on it.

I am by no means a gear head of any kind, this is just what I remember when I first started looking at adding in a super charger or even turbo to my truck. I got a lot of help from people on here and other forums. Just keep in mind, it's going to be a lot of work, and a good amount of coin to do the job right so you don't end up with a blown engine and then out even more money than what you started with.

But don't let me turn you away from doing this, when it's done and done right on a ranger it's pretty awesome. And please if I am wrong on any of this, guys feel free to correct me.

Thank you for your info... That is exactly what I am looking for. I am slowly trying to improve my truck with aftermarket lights and new paint, ect. This was an idea I had, and maybe when I have cash to spare I will look into it again.

I hope my info was helpful. As I said, I'm not much of a gear head but I've asked my fair share of questions over the years I've been on the forums. I've looked at many possibilities for the truck. For other options for more power, look into the 5.0 v8 swap, or if you can find one at the right price a diesel swap. But both of those do require quite a bit of work and money as well. There is really no good/cheap way to have a ranger with lots of power unfortunately, but there are ways of doing it.

Hopefully someone will chime in that knows more about the topic at hand though and can give you a better idea of costs and what exactly should be done if you want a super charger on your ranger. That's really the only way you'll get the best idea of the work required and price it would take to achieve what you want. I only had a brief overview of it all so I may have missed some things.
