My daughter has a 1999 Ford ranger 4.0 V6 XLT and it has been have trouble starts and runs still a rough idle now but when put in gear it stall and surges also stalls and surges at stop signs and light sometimes dies unless you keep the rpm’s up at 1000 here are the codes
    Po 174
    Replaced items
    Mass air flow sensor
    Idle control valve
    Fuel filter
    Plugs and wires
    Air filter
    Intake air temp sensor
    Fixed a couple vacuum hoses
Used a home made smoke machine and only place had smoke was the idle control valve
    Any other suggestions?

Have you checked for a vacuum leak?
When its running rough, check around where the manifold bolts on and around all the vacuum lines.
IF the idle smooths out for a second (might also speed up), that's the spot where the leak is.

Yes I used a smoke machine and couldn’t find any leaks

How was the smoke coming out of this?
