Hi, For the past few weeks my rear wheels lock up when I brake a little more then a soft tap.Half of my rear shoes are cracked left and right side. Ford dealer says I need to change the shoes and drum to fix the problem(after their $400 fee)(the shoes were replaced and drums resurfaced a year and a half ago, driven 15000miles since)
An other shop repair was certain that the cracked shoes are not the real problem and decided not to change them, but mentioned a pressure metering valve or proportioning valve(are these valves the same thing?) I keep reading different things on the net about any of those valved being removed from ranger after the 90s. Would anyone have any information? or any other suggestions on why this problem is happening? Do wheels lock up normally if shoes are not too used but cracked? I havent changed the parts yet and can only drive slowly and locally to stay safe.
Thank you,
Carole
