greetings all. i am a newbie, so here goes. i have done the following 1) flushed out radiator, engine, and heater coil. all are clean and without leaks. 2)replaced heater control valve 3)put in fresh 50/50 antifreeze mixture. 4) reattached vacuam line to heater control valve. After all that, i got better a/c. Any idea where my heat is. 5) i removed both hoses running to the heater core in the hope i would see water running. suprisingly, there was very little. HELP. What is my next step. Most sincerly, the lost ranger guy. lol

WRONG! ( in the ancient days you were right ) When a thermostat fails nowadays they now default to an open position. The coolant will flow forever in out of motor threw radiator and never get heat. All my rangers i have owned had heating problems. Both were the thermostat were stuck open. replace the thermo and i bet you will be golden
true been a long day... did you check th eheater hoses to make sure they arent stopped up? or you could have gotten a bad valve from the auto parts store... you could try pullin the hose in front of the valve and see if it flows like it should....
actually up here where i live you have to specify wether you want a fail safe( sticks open when it fails) or the old style where if it sticks closed your engine would over heat....
hmm iv seen those but y would u buy one with a fail close??? even if it did overheat you would get heat in your cab since the coolant that goes into the heater core comes straight from the motor before it goes to the radiator. it points more to a thermo stuck open
right but the symptoms he is saying he is having is no flow from the hearter hoses when he pulls them off....
HAHAHA i completley didnt even see that LOL Well with little flow, he said he pulled both so that means he has no water going in or going out. he has to options here that i see, 1: His water pumps fins rotted away 2: He has an air lock in the system his options to fix here are 1: put new WP on 2: Pour fluid down into the heater hoses and see if that will help get rid of the air ( but the rangers are really good at not getting air trapped in them so i dont really thign it would be this option )
