Need Help W/ Custom Bumper

El Camino Man

Thank The Lord For BBFs!
Hello guys! I am catching a bug to customize my Ranger. You guys know the feeling... Anyways, I decided to fab up some custom bumpers for my Ranger! I looked in our junk pile and saw we had some 1/8" diamond plate. Heck yea! I held it up to my truck and... I cant think of what to do. I am usually pretty good about bein creative but I couldnt think for the life of me what would look good.

I am wanting some diamond plate, front and rear, unless something else would look better. What I want is some D ring mounts on both, just in case. And also Id like some reliefs for fog lights unless its too difficult but I figure I could make it work. I just have no idea how to design it or where to even start. Help me! I need ideas and pics are helpful!

1/8" kinda thin for a bumper maybe the step ( top part of the bumper) should be ok
but at least 3/16" for bumper I would think

I think you should take a look at hurleys front bumper and make something similar...then send me your OEM front bumper

3/16 MINIMUM for a front bumper. And I hope that Diamond plate is steel, not aluminum.

Just my opinion, but you need something a little thicker for a bumper

or if he just makes a heavy duty custom cover bumper that goes over his stock one, it will look cool and still have protection

One of my buddies has his like that. It definitly looks nice. But I still need ideas! It seems most people use tube as the "frame" then box it in with the plate. Is that the way to go?

O wow. I am definitly a fan of Hurleys bumper! But Id need a tube bender to do that... Something thats a little outta my reach

I went surfing the web and found a few ideas but I want some input.

I like the simplicity of this one:

And I like the lines on this one. I was thinking of a similar set-up

I prolly wont make it exactly like it but similar. I wont go up the fender like he did or cut the fancy lines in it. But I like the V style. I should be able to do that fairly easy!
