Need help my 93 keeps dieing and is running bad!

I need help guys my 1993 ranger with the 4.0 v6 4x4 keeps dieing i can keep it running by giving it gas but it spits and sputters and has no power at all what could be the cause of this?

Idle air control.

Check that first. Pull it off while the truck is running and if the truck still shuts off, it's good. If the truck still runs, then you're in for a fix.

bad gas? has it rained alot neat you lately? Same thing happened to me, but it was bad gas 2 cans of dry gas and about 5 gallons of fresh gas i was good to go! Give it a try!
