While driving today got a check engine light. My pickup acted as though it was not getting gas. It never completely died but bucked some then the check engine light went out. No problem when light is out.
Any ideas?

Hello Swimmer and welcome to the forum! Interesting that it seems to fix itself. Since it threw the CEL on, I would take it to your neighborhood big box part place (AutoZone / Advanced Auto / O'Reilly) and they will pull the codes for free. Barring that, I would start by replacing the fuel filter (that can never hurt). If you can get your hands on a fuel pressure gauge, I would see if your pump may be getting weak. Could check the pressure both before and after the filter change. At least that is somewhere to start.

I found out some time back our local Autozone and Oreillys doesn't have an adapter that will connect to read the codes. Too old I guess. I figured once the CEL illuminated it would stay on. Hopefully the ECM holds history.

My apologies... I re-read your original post. 1994 didn't have the ODBII connector. Have to troubleshoot it the old-school way! :)

Swimmer, check the local shops and see if anyone still has and uses something called a "Ford Break-out Box".
Should work for your truck.
