mpg problems

Yea ill ry doing it by the amount of gallons I put in the truck. Regardless I still need a better more comfortable car for the 14 trips to mi.

i hear ya on wanting a more effecient vehicle.
but ill never sell my ranger.

ive racked up over 24,000 miles since february. and gas in canada is way more expensive that the US.

but, ill never ditch the truck.

out of curiosity, does you're truck have the 60/40 bench seats or does it have the vinyl solid bench seat? a pair of factory cloth ranger bucket seats from a '98+ with the lumbar support make one helluva differance on long road trips!

I had the solid vinyl but I swapped in a 60/40. My seats are really comfortable it's not the matter of a seat. It's that I have no interior room. I could add a topper but then I won't have access to it. I would be fine with an ext can truck.

i feel the same way, lol. on the plus side though i've got an '00 with the massive, 3 inch longer cab, allowing 2 whole clicks farther back for the seat. and i need every one of 'em! lol.

haha luckily im only 5'5 so i dont even put my seat all the way back. if i get a cherokee sport ill swap in grand cherokee seats which are usually leather and they are so nice. they would be awesome for the long car rides.

One thing I did not see mentioned for you mpg's is to check your tire pressure if it is high or low it will effect your mileage a lot especially if the pressure is off by more than 3lbs.

turns out i was calculating the mpg wrong. i just did it with 8.325 gallons and drove 163 miles so that comes out to 19 mpg. which im much happier about.

that's a lot better but I would think you would be in the low 20s at least. (like 22-23 MPG).

that's much closer to where it should be! now start with little driving tweaks, mabe find a used tonneau cover cheap.

have you ever heard of the dual ignition mod? supposidly nets you a little bit more power and a MPG or two, for free. only works for the older 2.3's and 2.5's.

I have the dual plug mod done to my truck I didn't notice a difference. I'm thinking of making a tonneau since already have a toolbox I would need a custom one

That mileage sounds good to me . The wife and I just did a round trip over 2 mountain passes one at 3000 ft and one at 4000 ft ,298 miles speed ranged 60 to 70 mph and I have a fiberglass canopy just above cab high we got 19 mpg . I used the cruise control most of the time .I`m happy ,it`s better than my toyota got and more comfortable.
