Inertia switch

I was wondering if anyone knew the location of the inertia switch for a 1992 Ranger. I'm buying one from my nephew cheap, he just had an accident today and pushed the core support in. They oil filter was crushed and the engine drained of the oil. Will that cause it to not start? Does it have a sensor that won't let the motor fire if no oil. This is he second fender bender in it and the first time he said it wouldn't turn over, but after filter change and oil added, it started. I thought maybe it was an inertia switch. Any info would be appreciated.

Patience, this site is still quite young and is growing every day. I cannot answer that either but I do know that some engines do have a low oil pressure "no start" switch. I just don't know anyone that ever tried to start a motor with no oil in it if that is what is being attempted. And welcome to the site to the both of you.....And you didn't answer his question either :tt2:
 
Inertia switched were in two locations. 1st location undercarpet to the right of tranny tunnel up near the heater plenium chamber. 2nd location is in the RH kick panel. I knew of a low oil switch located in the pan but was unaware that it would shut down the engine. Its a great idea if it does as stated. We have had that system on small engines in the golf industry for years.
