How To: Explorer roof rack mod - Discussion thread

parts needed
-roof rack
-hack saw
-6 3/4 inch self tapping screwa
-drill with hex attachment for self tappers
-loctite adhesive sealant
-any good clear caulk

trim rails to fit roof measure with tape measure i cut from front plastic piece and marked 36 inches back.

after trimming and reassembling.

silicone under rails, put 6 3/4 inch self tapping screw (as indicated by red dots) with washer under screw if wanted caulk around base of rack.

sweet yeah i think it will look great on your truck well just look at clear outdoor photo of mine i ahev the same lift and tires so imagine it red lol

I know man....I am hitting the yard monday with Hurley so I may just grab one! Give it a nice look. I have a new lund windshield visor I have to put on but I have to see what the combo will look like.

I dont think so...Only thing is, If I put the rack on, my truck will be too high to fit in my garage lol

how much clearnace do you have?? cuz you can take the bars off and just have the rails and just store bars in tool box till you needed them they just spin right on and off.

I have about an inch clearance getting it into the garage now lol

with the bars off you will clear no prob

yeah i kinda like em then again..im starting to see them pop up everywhere on everything its not everyday you see a ranger with a roof rack..lol if you wanna see whats "not a current mod on any trucks" go to a county fair all the rednecks come out i always admire there trucks to see what others are not doing. that way im first!

i think they would look good i honestly think the cab lights stick up higher than the rails for roof rack lol i like cab light there just not for me..im thinking about yellowing my fogs out..just for a little color.
