Heating/Cooling

Is there any thing common to the heating and cooling functions which could cause both of them to fail?

Heater: After reaching operating temperature if I turn on high heat I'll get a few seconds of heat then the blowing air cools down to the same as if I'd set it at the cool end. Hoses on the engine side are warm but not hot. Raditor is hot.

Cooling: Compressor cycles on and off about every three seconds. Don't think its low on freon because when I added a little the pressures went up, almost past where they should be, but the cycling continued.

A check engine light is on.

Past due entry, have the codes read and get back to us, sounds like air in the heater not coolant, the hose from the head is the input to the heater, remove both and fill hose with coolant untill it flows out the other, reinstall. Am not an AC guy to comment on subject.

I'll give that a try, thanks. I think I have the AC working. It's cooling pretty good and the pump stopped cycling after adding freon. I've gotten a bit busy with a bunch of sturf so it may be a while before I go after the heating problem but I'll post results when I get there.
