Body roll kills gas mileage. You also get better traction w/ the air springs so less torque is applied therefore gaining gas mileage.
Brinker pretty much said it but I just finished a dynamics class where we studied the effect of shocks on gas mileage. If you think about it, the better your shocks are, the less your truck will accelerate in the up and down direction and the side to side direction. The less accel. you have in the off-plane directiion, the less your engine has to pull because it is only moving one direction.
A-HA! checked out ford.com. All super cabs have 19.5 from at least 99 to 09 Reg. Cab short box - 16.5 Reg. Cab long box - 20 Ext. Cab Short box - 19.5
I always thought mine had less lol. Iv run it pretty dang close to empty and it still takes about 16-17 gallons. Anyways, this makes me wanna put shocks on the El Camino lol. It only has a single shock...
Great to hear you're getting better fuel mileage Craig! And no Pete, the reason you're mileage sucks is cause you hammer on it all the time.. When I followed you for that twnety miles you were pretty rough on it..
