Drop in bedliner rumor?

Hey guys, I know I've been M.I.A. lately.

Today someone told me that I should take my drop in bedliner out asap because they trap water and cause your bed to rust. I've never heard that before. Is it true??
I plan on taking it out and line-exing it when I get my rocker panels done anyways. But do they really cause rust?

Thats alot of hay!! Yes drop in liners do trap water and cause rust. Mostly the liners vibrate and rub the paint away. It has happened with every truck I have seen with a drop in liner. Thats the bad about them. If you are using it to haul heavy things, thoe drop in liners are great for preventing dents and dings where a roll on liner will not.
 
yep drop ins are trouble Rhino Liner FTW...i love mine and thats more stuff than my ranger bed has ever seen lol
 
When I took mine off of my 89 when I first got it I could see the axel lol! Do yourself a favor and rhino line, or line x it!!! (personally like line x).

Ive taken my drop in liner out before and the bed was pretty much in mint shape... there was no rust on it, however i can certainly see how it could be an issue.
 
Thanks guys! I'm going to leave it in for now until I get the rocker panels done. Rather have it in there than have it nekkkid, lol.
 
I took mine out last year and had a few spots where the paint wore away and had a tiny bit of surface rust
 
When I painted my bed we also sprayed the inside too! I removed my bedliner like a week before we did it. It had 2 rust spots. We sanded them down and painted right over it. My drop in bedliner has been on my truck from the factory 13 years ago back in 1999!

and when do get a spray in liner soak it in tire shine every once in a while...keeps it nice and black like the day it was sprayed...like this
