Does anyone else have this?

I am wondering if this is a mistake from the factory, the way that the trucks came, or maybe if this was done and overlooked when making a repair. On the drivers side of my new (used) Ranger, it says "RANGER", but on the passenger side it says "RANGER" and XLT under it. It seems to me that it should read the same on both sides. It does not look like the truck has had any kind of body work done to it. Opinions?

You sure that there is no evidence of body work? Just by looking at the pics, the gap between the bumper and grille/headlights/fenders looks a little large.

Also the gap on the lower fender at the bottom of the left front door looks tighter than the top near the windshield, but that could be just the pics.

Better pics (straight on) of both sides and straight on front end could net you better analisys (for as good as it can get for not being able to view the truck in person).

Also, I could be mistaken but that front bumper/wheel option was part of the STX package for the 2wd's that was available upgrade to the XL so you should not have the XLT badge on that side.

What year is it?

yeah...you should definatly have the same logo on both sides.

Do you have power locks & doors. If not, your truck is the stock Ranger.

Your right

The truck is a 2005 Ranger STX 2WD 5spd. As far as body work, I am a professional spray finisher, so I know how and where to spot remnaints of body work (painted a few cars myself) unless the entire truck including the interior door jams and other less conspicuous spots has been painted. 4 years old and it does have its share of chips, slight dents, and scratches. Paint has the factory "ripple" and it is even over the entire vehicle. No sign of the bolts that hold the fenders on ever been loosened or removed. If it has had work done then it was done well enough that I cant tell and that is good enough for me. The front bumper does have a crack in it on the passengers side from the bottom of the bumper being scrapped on a curb. Might have tweaked the gap between the bumper and fender at the same time. I have other pics and can take more if you need them to make a determination. Thanks for the input.

No power locks or windows, but it does have Cruise, AC and a nice stereo. Everything I wanted as my last truck had the same options. Oh last truck was a 96 Nissan Pick up with 150,000 miles when traded. I hope that what everyone says about the american vehicles being as good, is true and I can get the same 150k out of this Ranger without any major repairs.

first of all what threw me off. is your truck is an stx....they are the plain trucks no where they are an xtl. your truck is not an xlt, sometimes what happens at dealerships is when they come in used missing an emblem they (usually salesmen) replace them at their local parts dept. they have brains for rocks. so im sure thats what happend.

From the STX I've seen in the past, it just had "Ranger" on the side.. As the last poster stated, it may of been a mistake at the dealer.

Carfax cost money

Have you run a carfax report. It should show if the vehicle was repaired under an insurance claim

I understand that the carfax report MAY show a repair, but it costs money to run one and I do not feel that the cost is worth the info. I have seen a carfax run on a car that was in several accidents and it did not show up on the report.
