Coolant leakage issues...again

So here's the deal. After just fixing the water pump, my truck still bled coolant. So my parents took it to the garage, and we now found out that the entire intake has to be ripped off, and something has to be replaced after... Six hundred dollars worth of a repair. I know the truck sure as hell ain't worth it, and I'm really considering getting rid of it now. anybody ever have this problem before? And is it worth fixing, or throwing a new engine in?

You don't think your trucks worth putting 600 in? That seems silly to me.. it is always worth putting a new engine in though, go 5.0 =)

Wilkes-Barre. I've already asked my parents, just in case one of yall wanted to come, and they shot me out of the air like a nazi fighter jet in WWII...

How old are you? Your parents WANT you to spend a **** ton of money for the same repair I could do and only have gas into it?

Sorry it took so long to reply. They have paid for 95% of the work done to it. They have basically paid for everything, and then go ahead and bitch about how much they're spending into it... Go figure. Now it's on to the cv joint, but that shouldn't be too much. Then I'm finally freakin done with the mechanical issues for now.

Its probably the thermostat housing, I just had to replace the same thing on my 01 and it requires the intake to be removed to get to it. The intake itself has no coolant flowing through it so it cant leak coolant from that. Anyways, it is a few hour job to do it but $600 is a bit steep IMO, I would shop around for a better price.

It was something around the housing... The gooseneck underneath I think they said it was. But it turned out to be only $317. Luckily, none of the coolant leaked into the oil, or else there would've been that much of a bill lol

Yeah thats part of the housing, its all one piece. Its a common issue with the SOHC's. $317 is pretty fair, glad its taken care of.

Yeah, I was surprised. And they even took care of my rear pinion seal, at no charge for labor. I did have all it needed though. And me too... Now I just gotta get the cv done.
