can I use a 95 and up explorer w/ disc brakes

you will need to weld on spring perch being the axle is axle over leaf

i have a 99 and i used a brake caliber bracket off of a 95 explorer i dont know u can give it a try

Not only will you have to flip the leaf spring perches, but you'll have to make or buy shock tabs and weld them on to your desired location. Explorers have a completely different shock configuration. You'll need to do something with the brake lines as well. I'm working on that right now actually.

Yeah, unless you're doing some serious hard core wheeling, your factory 8.8 will be plenty sufficient. I wouldn't bother if I were you.
