Is it necessary to install the top clips on the brake caliber of a 2000 Ford ranger. Put new hardware and the top clips seem to rub the rotors when wheels are turning to make a loud squeaking noise. Bent clips to try to keep it from rubbing to no avail, just want to remove them.

The upper springs are suppose to keep the brake pads down and not make rattling noises. If it is rubbing, you may want to make sure it is seated properly. It shouldn't cause any rubbing.
