Body Lift Questions

Ranger Gang
I have an 05 edge reg cab and am going to be putting a BL on, i was wondering if itll fix a little problem ive had. My Ebrake cable is stretched, will it take care of the slack? Also i dont have the shifter extension yet. Can i just remove the boot for now?

No, without the shifter extension you will not be able to shift gears once lifted. The boot has nothing to do with it, it is more of the opening in the body. If you do not have the extension, you will hit the sides of that opening now allowing it to go into gear.

No problem. I've seen people fab some up before, but it'd be best just to wait for it to get there and then throw on the lift. If you have any other questions just let us know!

And PS -- pic or it didn't happen! You should take pics all the way through the process.

Ill post pics when i do it. Its always like a challenge when people say that lol. It may not be for a while though. But ill revive this thread then for ya

Wait a minute, just checked my kit. I forgot it has the extension in the package already! So will be starting asap. Dont have my truck right now. Sister wrecked her stang so i had to give my ride up, but i may be gettin it back tonight. If so, ill be puttin the lift on and will post pics tomorrow.

Mines a PA Body. The box says 01-05 Ford Ranger/Mazda B Incl. Edge(Manual Trans Req). How do you post pics? Im 99.9% sure this is the extension.

Its the cylinder type thing with the bolt through it and the stub or whatever you wanna call it sticking out the top. It came with truck when i purchased it so i have no clue where it came from, but it was brand new still in box

Use photobucket.com to put up pictures. All you have to do load it to PB, hover over the image and copy the img tag link and then paste.

That is a great description of it. I don't think I could have put it better. But that sounds like it.

Ummmmm......That's the steering extension.

On the box where it says "manual transmission require" or something to that extent, right behind where it says that, it says the part number required...#3700.

And just to clarify, you CAN drive it without it. But you'll have to not run your cupholders. And possibly what the cupholders mount to's grommet may be cut or totally removed. lol.

You are right Fx4. I thought about it after I got home and realized they look very similar. Thank you for the correction. I didn't sign back on when I got home from work to post it so you beat me too it.

If i remove the boot and cupholder can i buy an aftermarket boot like the hurst boot and be alright not using the extension? At least temporarily.
