Im needing to build a wood bench setup for me to use in my garage. I know I could probably just google something but id rather see what you guys have came up with.

I dont really have to many specifics that it has to meet, but just something to build out of wood and be able to use for just about anything that you could think of. Mount my vice on and be sturdy, etc etc.

Thanks

Retired house chairs FTW. Or riding lawn mower! haha!

Or are we talking a work bench??? I'm in love with my 2x4 and 4x4 I built a few years back for my shop. I used Simpson Strong-Tie brackets and 2x4's for the frame. 1/2" finished plywood for the top and shelves. Even built a few 12' tall shelving units using the same components. Nails are for pansies so I used torx head wood screws to put it all together. I have my stupid small vice mounted to the 4x4 and eventually plan my own bench in a 3x8' layout up against the wall. It'll have a small shelf above the main work bench area for spray cans and other doodads. (I currently rent my mom's shop my old man built for my brother and I) Maybe one day I'll come up with pics...I just don't have the shop in a condition to show/brag at the moment. lol.

You'll just have to settle for the 4x4 in the background in front of the 2x8x12 or possibly even 14' shelf...

my bench is on heavy duty door hinges mounted to my block wall so I can fold it if need be , it stays down unless I need more room then I just fold it into the wall , I even have a 8" wilton vise attached to it very sturdy I will try to get a pic of it today

i over did mine and used 4x4s for the legs, 2x6s for support and braces, and i used 3/4 floor sheathing for the top

That's a great idea! I'd love to see pics of that hinged bench!

here is my dirty hinged bench, legs are on lock hinges as they fold in also

so far I have had 450 pounds on the top of the bench and no problems, Very sturdy 4x4 legs, the bench can swing up or down.
