Well guys i thought that i could get some good info from some forums and here are my plans. I have a 02 f-150 that i totaled out a bout 5 years ago that runs and everything got it down to drive train 4.6 L 4 speed automatic, I just recently ran across a deal and got a 94 ranger 2.3 L 5 speed ext cab for 600 bucks with minimal fire damage to the passenger side fire wall. Me and some friends are looking to drop the 4.6 in it but have no idea about motor mounts, intake and headers.:blink: I drive a 95 with the same drive train as the 94 so I have parts to fix it when need be. Well if anyone has done this or seen it done i would love the help.:eek:
 
I've personally never seen it done but I would make sure to save the 150 mounts and simply mock up (hopefully you have a welder) mounts from the Ranger frame to set the motor on. I would also use the stock manifolds as they worked well in the 150 and should work just fine in a Ranger. The only problem I could foresee is that those motors are HUGE compared to the more common 302 swap...You will also have to run the entire engine management system out of the 150 for it to run right and shift right.
 
It looks like it will fit with another oil pan and new intake thinking out of a mustang gt but i have all the wires and stuff to run it. So getting it to run is no prob and we have already used the duct tape and saw to get the cab off the F-150 it was fun LOL.
 
Well here is the before of the f-150 it is just frame and motor. Hope to have a few of the ranger to be dismantled this next week.
 
you will have to probably swap motor and tranny cause the tranny out of the ranger might not bolt up to the 4.6

you will have to rig up the wireing from the f-150 into the rangers wireing harness SOME how that will be a pain

motor mounts and exhaust shouldn't e a problem just fit the mounts and use the old manifold OR go with a set of headers and make your own ehaust

like some one said before might not fit in the hole or it will be a tight squeeze

you may have you re-enforce the front frame to hold the heavier motor


but hay if you got time and money you can do anything if you attempt it take pics lol i wanna see it it will be cool cause i have never heard of this before
 
Yea a guy on another forum told me a guy did it to an 02 but diff. frame ya know. The main reason i wana do it is cause my buddy has an S-10 with an LT1 in it with a t56 6-speed and he wants to see the small trucks shoot it out. But the blue oval will always overcome the boy in the bow-tie.... :thumbup:
 
as much as i wanna say that the ranger would win there is no posible way you could not against an LT1 with a 6-speed that would be ridiculously fast the 4.6 would never touch it
