the other day i helped my neighbor change the starter on his 04 sport trac. that was a job as he had to take off the egr tube and the shield and then he had to remove some type of part that looks like a balancer weight. we put it all back but for that weight. what is that for? all the you tubes showing how to remove that starter did not show that part in them at all. so is it really necessary to have that part on the truck? it fits over the front doff and points to the center of the engine and is not connected to anything but the mount that runs along side the front diff and frame, it has what looks like heavy weights on it and they squeeze some type of rubber on the bracket. in order to put that back on it looks like he will need to take the starter off and it was a job to get the starter loose with it in place. thanks for the help.
