I just put a new alternator into my ranger and it seems to be working great. One of the wires that was going from the alternator to the battery was melted so I stripped it and used electrical tape as a temporary fix. I just drove it about 2 miles and the air filter tube melted completely. When I loosened the radiator cap the coolant overflowed out of the reservoir. The temp gauge is normal and was working fine in the past. Any ideas what's goin on here?

O I also have a fuel leak and the timing cover gasket needs to be changed. Both of which will be done this week. I don't know if those things could have any relation but it ran fine for about 400 miles with those issues before this happened.

In case anyone was wondering, the intake had a heated element in between the engine and the filter tube. When I swapped out the alternator something happened with the voltage regulator and turned it on.
