98 ranger,5r55e has had this issue since around 140000 miles,when your in 1 or 2nd gear it feels like the brakes on when you give it gas,shift it into d and it accelerates normal,it acts like the throttle isnt opening,its also shifting harder than before.any suggestions?im having a hard time...

ive got a 98 ranger 4 by4 xlt with the 4.0 and the reverse band snapped,im wondering if i have to use the same year of transmission or what year of trans will work,i think it has a 5r55e,so i picked up a 99 explorer to take out the trans and swap into the ranger but the explorer has a sohc 4.0...
