    Weird startup issue

Except with mine it starts fine once warmed up. Cold start on a 65 degreese ambiant temperature day will only cause it to only attempt to stall one. But it'll correct itself pretty quick. On a colder day when ambiant temp is 40-50 it'll attempt to stall more than once, anywhere from 2-5 times...

Help...1993 ford ranger v6 fuel problem

I have no idea, but might have one once a few questions are answered. That's a might, this seems to be a very odd problem. Does the pump prime up when you turn the key from the off position to the on position? (Fuel pump runs a few seconds and quits) Or does it run continuously? If it runs...

    Weird startup issue

Every time I start up my '93 4.0l ranger, it'll start, go to high idle, then the rpm will drop until it almost stalls, after it almost dies the rpm will jump back up to high idle like it normally should. I thought I had a drain back issue with my fuel pump but it'll do this several times in a...

    computer question

I've read about auto to manual swaps. By what I've read, the computer should work as long as pinouts/connectors are the same. The only issue I'd see if everything matches up is the money light coming on for lack of tranny shift and lockout solenoids.

    Transmission Blockout?

I replaced the rubber plugs on the upper shift rail of the transmission on my '93. I took out the shifter to retrieve a core plug i hammered in too far. Afterwards i got a very funny feeling 5th, it would go part way into gear, the you'd have to push harder and it would "snap" into gear, almost...

    computer question

Rockauto has them, expensive though. I've ordered parts through rockauto for my '93 splash and I'd say you can trust them. Here's a link if it'll let me post one: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,1999,ranger,2.5l+l4,1354755,electrical,engine+control+module+(ecm+computer),2896 I have no...

    Battery hook-up wrong

Check the voltage at the alternator. The alternator has diodes in it that might have blown or shorted when it was hooked up backwards. The computer is still good as obviously it runs, and it has a protective diode in the engine compartment fuse box. On my '93 4.0L the alternator fuse was a 20...

    95 Ranger 4.0 looses fuel

Check the MAF sensor, and the TPS. If I'm reading this correctly, you're saying it does fine until you load it. Also check the air filter if you haven't, a dirty filter will let air through until you require lots of air under WOT. I've checked the MAF by unplugging it and driving it. It takes...

    1994 Ford Ranger

Faulty O2 sensor would cause it to run rich if it hasn't set a code. If the '94 is anything like the '93, check the fuel pressure regulator, mine had a ruptured diaphram and was sucking unmetered gas into the intake.

    Rebuild kit question

I've got a '93 splash with a 4.0L engine. Tranny is a m5od-r1 sticker on the side reads F27A. I'm looking for a rebuild kit and the closest I come to finding one is for a F17A. Would the one for a F17A work on the F27A since what I've read the only difference is the F17 is a year older than the...
