will look way more clean with both boards and flaps removed. granted, without the flaps it'll get more dirty more quick, and maybe even chip your paint up, but who cares, mud flaps are ghey. and running boards always look silly.
demon, i mak(d)e better than minimum and i'm all tapped out with food,gas and a cell phone alone. let alone rent and utilities. seems like every time i get closer to making progress i get knocked down.

i'd LOVE to get that thing, chop that preposterous stack down to below cab level with a sweet miter cut on it, loose the old man "mods" paint the steelies black and get some newer chrome caps, and die happy. albeit, for a lower price.

IMO, bedliner doesn't even clean up that easy, short of a pressure washer, which you aren't about to use on your interior (i'd hope) not to mention your going to have exposed wires and **** to hide.
the infamous gen3 2.3 p1443 engine code. this is common, but usually doesn't contribute to low idle, as far as i've seen. i think you have two separate problems.
