transmission oil running out

    i have 2001 ford ranger XLT my transmission oil is running low but no red leak.I put more transmission oil in truck it keep running low. my overflow is brownish color.

    My guess is that either your trans cooler in the radiator tank has sprung a leak allowing the trans fluid to contaminate the coolant or, if it's a 4x4, the front seal on the transfer case could've gone bad allowing trans fluid to leak into the t-case. Was a Ford trans mechanic for 20 years and saw both happen more than you would think.

    Sounds just like a repair blunder I read about a month ago. Would put money on it that trans cooler is what you need. Also at least a drain and replace coolant if not flush and replace. Good luck!
