I have an issue

    My 92 ranger is a 2.3L two wheel drive. It has a tapping problem when I first crank it up, and when im idoling but it only does it in first gear other gear. Im at a lost right now if possible please help.

    I also think it's overheaTing actually I know it is. I need advise please

    Idk the tapping problem. Maybe bearings in tranny? But do you have any leaks as far as overheating

    Maybe input shaft bearing or throw out

    Going on only the info given, sounds like it could be a lifter.
    Does the tapping speed up and slow down as the engine does?
    How often, or have you ever, changed both the engine oil AND the filter?
    What filter are you using?
    What oil are you using?
    ...without being there, that's where I'd start.
