the waiting always suck, then they always want more info, I hear it is a lot tougher now, which I think is a good thing as too many folks bought more than they could afford by listening to the realtor saying "you can do it/ afford it" Or just by living above their means. Every house we bought I always made sure to never live above our means to pay for it. I think that is key to every buyer new or old specially those first timers out there.

Good luck and happy waiting :)

Got an Insurance Estimate yesterday, what are they crazy… !

Twice what I am paying around here and I am in what MA Insurance Companies call a wind zone.

Why is it the Insurance Companies always try to get as much out of you as they can get… I am not happy at this moment and will need to do a lot more investigation before signing any insurance papers.

I think I need the insurance company to pay a visit to my site and see that there are no high grasses to start a fire and there are no trees and no, well not much of anything on the ground.

Seems a lot of things will cost more.

House insurance is twice what we pay in MA.

    Auto insurance higher.

State Sales Tax higher by two percent.

    State Icome Tax is higher.

On a good note... Property taxes will be half of what I pay here in MA and I have ten times the land.

    Anything I missed...

I didn't do an analysis of costs in that area maybe if I had I wouldn't have purchased the house but the weather is warmer, there is no snow, my daughter lives there and soon the grand children will be there too so I am stuck.

All will work out, we are where we should be and I will have to accept that for what it is.

    Thanks for your comments.

Thanks, I am hoping for the best from this new adventure in life.

We are boxing stuff now for our first trip across the states.
We are renting a large truck, loading up all of the tools for the demo and then fill the rest with adds and ends we are going to need.

After this trip we will decide if we want to give it another go for a second trip with a truck or ship all the rest.

Stressful and yet exciting at the same time.

How big can the truck be without having a CDL ?

I am thinking might as well get the biggest we can the first time over just in case it is the last trip across with a truck that is !

So much extra $hit that we do not even need; why did I keep all this stuff.

    Yard Sale coming up.

Electricity is on and the move is in process.

Boxes are being packed and soon a truck will be loaded.

We are making a test run… first to see if the wife and I can still get along for 5 days in a truck; this could be fun ! Then to see if it will be worth the time and effort to move ourselves or have it done and over with by a company.

Once then we have three contractors lined up waiting for us to arrive and get the $$$ figured out, how much to do the project and if the wife and I do the gutting will it save enough to make it worth it ?

Then the shop, I need to contact people to determine if my design is acceptable to the area… WTF… why do I own 10 acres is I can’t do what I want. Something to do with a fire hazard thing.

Here is a basic stick drawing of the new shop, it will be situated on to the left of the house, just not sure what the positioning will be.

Main Bay will have a lift positioned towards the rear leaving enough to get another vehicle in and the Side Bay will be a Welding Shop and Tractor Parking, Maybe need to store some Tools too.

Things are moving forward and the new life beings or maybe an adventure ! LOL

by now you have a truck in order but cdl is required when air brakes are on said vehicle and if you are a paid for hire driver

    Thanks on the CDL info.
The truck is a 20 foot box, no air and I am thinking no diesel. GAS $$$ !
Placing the request for the truck last week of Aug.

Had a real estate agent come through the house in MA, she is going to price it out for sale.
Hoping for high 400K but only time will tell.
We are hoping for a wash on buying/mod’g in SoCal and selling here in MA, break even would be good, especially if I get the new shop out of the deal.

Diablo, help me out, “YW” ????

Well got the last outside project done on the house.
Starting the inside, only two things to do, rebuild the spiral stairs and ceilings on the first level.

    NEXT !

The MA house is almost done, just a couple more weeks and a lot of money.

The CA house is just sitting there, killing me with the weather.

    Almost there !
