2000 Ford Ranger 4x4

    I just bought a used Ford Ranger 4x4 my question is this when putting it into 4 wheel drive hi ,does the truck have to be in park neutral or drive of course it didn't come with an owner's manual..thanks for any info.... It's an automatic and the switch is on the dashboard...

    Thanks For Any Info..

    Going to look on ebay for some owner's manuals.

    no it doesnt you can go from 2wd to 4x4 hi at any time, but in order to go to 4x4 lo you need to put it in neutral same with going out of it. If it doesnt go into 4x4 or register that its in 4x4 then you have a vacuum line setup 4x4 system. But thats another topic just see if itll go into it first.

    Doesn't hurt to back up some after taking it out of 4WD.
