    actually where its starting to break the frame is actually 2 parts riveted together you may be able to find a donor frame and bolt it back together.

    That "riveted part is just the body bushing mount. As well as the leaf spring hanger mount. It will all need ground off and welded/plated.

    on mine the frame is 2 actual peices riveted together. so that may have been something that changed when they redid the frame in between 97 and 98....

    That is how mine is, if you look at the pic you see the spring hanger, well right next to that(between it an the crack) you see where the two pieces are put together..

    So I found out that I have a donor truck.
    My old man has a 99 Ranger that the motor & trans are shot. Body isn't in the best shape but frame was great when I looked earlier in the summer..

    Would I be better off to swap motor and trans from my truch to his, or just do the frame repairs?

    well if you swap motors and stuff it may be cheaper. if you swap the full frame you'll need to pull the motor and trans anyway. if you only swap the rear frame if it is 2 pieces you'll only have to swap the fuel tank and rearend if you dont just use the rearend out of the donor truck.

    Well I can't swap frames, his truck is a ext cab(only 2 doors damnit lol)

    take and measure the rear piece and see if they extended the front or rear section for the extended cab you may get lucky and they extended the front part of the frame. other than that the only other option would be to put your motor and trans in the extended cab and take that one as your truck.

    I believe they extened the center of the frame between the wheels(been wrong before though)
    But again, I don't see how that will really help though. My damage is on the part of the frame I would be keeping, the front section..

    I think my only options are motor/trans swap, or repair it the way Brad was saying..

    you could also take the donor truck cut you a nice section out and replace your breaking section with the new section.

    That may be what I am looking at.. I would love the extended cab(two doors would be lame but the room behind the seats would be nice!!) but it doesn't have power anything(mine's power all around) doesnt have cruise, doesn't have anything as it's just the xl..

    what were the specs on the donor truck? maybe just swap the trans and long block if its a 3.0?? might work? just another option i suppose

    i'd swap all the goodies over to the ext. cab in a hartbeat man. motor & trans, power doors, cruse, as much as you can. my buddie has a 2dr ext. cab with his mazda and i wish my truck was the same, so much extra space. can be a pain in the ass to get stuff back there but beats a regular cab anyday, lol.

    Swap everything over to the doors or just swap the doors over. The plug for the wires is already there. It's plug and play. :thumbsup:

    Find a decent ranger frame and swap all you want to it;

    OR find an older F-150/Bronco and swap the body to it;

    OR find ann early bronco 77 back and lengthen that chassis, the width will be ok, you will have a V-8 and you will have solid axle in front and a lot more options for lifts and chassis mods.

    Just thinking out loud again but I always like to think of every option.

    I think the Early Bronco will be the best bet, if you can locate the chassis for a good price.
