EGR problems

New Member
Have replaced both the valve body and module for my EGR . Check engine light still on. Guys at auto zone who checked the codes now say I need to replace tube running from base of valve body to exhaust manifold. They said it gets clogged up. When I looked at the pipe I cant see how it could clog, however I noticed the 2 tubes which ran from that pipe to the module. I disconnected the small rubber tubes and blew threw them , they are not clogged. Is it possible I HAVE BEEN SOLD DEFECTIVE PARTS ?? They said no return on the module already. Any way to see if new parts are working properly. This thing is sucking gas as if there was a hole in the tank. Any help appreciated
 
It would help us alot to know what engine you are talking about also year make and model of the truck
 
Ive never heard of a defective EGR valve. Altho possible, it's HIGHLY unlikely. It seems you might have a different problem. You can always remove the EGR valve and stick a piece of wire down the tube to see if there's sediment built up before you go and spend more money
 
I don't think the tube would clog. I have been sold beat parts at autozone before but it is VERY unlikely.
 
I know this is an old thread but I am in need of the same thing. My 99 3.0 had the egr replaced and cleaned pipes. Somewhere I heard, can't remember that this sensor for the egr can go bad. Does this sound right to anyone?

The majority of EGR codes on later model Rangers like yours are due to a failure of the Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) sensor. Other common problems could be leaks in the hoses to that sensor or a hole in the steel EGR tube that goes from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve.
