I found this, might help: http://www.rangerforum.net/faq.php?faq=ranger_faq#faq_privacy Check under posting rules, last bullet.
I think itd be ok as long as you dont go overboard and use this place as more of a way to promote something rather than actually use it as a forum
can i ask why though? if theres tech info on another forum that this forum doesnt have, wheres the problem in sharing info?
Sharing info is one thing, but we have had people list things for sale and just throw in another forums link to them. This was something I discussed with the owners and it is prohibited in threads and as signatures, so as long as they are the owners, we have to follow their rules.
Kinda bad etiquette too. I think it's safe to say we all know there are more Ranger sites out there. If we cross link to other sites & vice/versa the lines of individuality will be blurred to the point of no real distinction between forums. Also, if pic links contain another forum's logo or info it will distract from the "image" of each site. Not to say that someone can't post the same images on multiple sites, as long as they are hosted on a "neutral" pic host like photobucket, etc. It wouldn't be good to use pics hosted on forum X to post on forum Y... you'd be using X's servers & bandwidth for Y's benefit. I'm sure Hooligan & the other admins will have more specific details as well.
I agree, and certain things once posted on certain forums, become that forums property. Once it becomes that forums property, you need certain permissions to post it else where. If those permissions are not sought, then there are legal issues involved and the issues turn into a "site fight" promoting a whole other sort of trouble that we do not need here
Okay, so let's say that I'm the owner of item 1, and have a for sale thread on another forum, site, etc... Would I be able to post a link to that thread here? (Not that I'm ever going to, but there are people who will in the future or ask about it). And if I used some tech info for let's say the installation of an explorer full console and message center on another Ranger forum, it's alright to post a link to that if we didn't already have a thread about said installation?
No, no links like that If you used tech info from another site for an install, and someone asks questions about it, I would assume you could answer it instead of posting a link. As I said before, the owners are prohibiting the links. So I ask that everyone respect their wishes and not do it. This is your answer, as it was mine when I asked. This thread will be closed if it turns into a debate or a "How can I loop hole this rule" thread.
I wasn't trying to "loophole" it, just asking before ten others did. Thank you for clarifying it. I'm more than happy following the rules.
you mean you dont like rich mittens romney lol I cant see how any regular person can like him , why outta reality when it comes to the working class of people
so like links to say lmc truck or youtube are different than what prohibited right? more like other forum content is no-no?
