Good go but ford makes all kinds for the older Ranger that all you need to do is squeeze the sides together and they fit a Steppie.
I know pics, none right now later today if wanted.

Here they are:

These came off of a ’99 Ranger Styleside
I bent them in and flatten the mounting tab, through bolted with washers on the underside; they work great.
Most metal hooks fit and I can easily put a knotted rope through.

This is a fab’d unit, made from Alum Angle.
The hole was a little to high for strength and then I got the ones above so these are off to the scrap heap.
