Hey I had a quick question. I've been slowly compiling everything needed to lift my truck this spring. I got a superlift kit that was barely used but I don't really like the idea of using blocks in the rear. I've heard and read about shackles and aal's on several of the other ranger forums. My question is has anyone lifted the rear of their truck this way instead of the blocks in the kit and what is the best place to get the parts or best brand that will last. Thanks in advance!

If you have the Superlift kit, use it all. I have the kit on my truck and there have never been issues with the rear blocks. It is one of the best and sought after lift kits so get that thing on the truck ASAP!

Welcome to the forum by the way

I would ditch the blocks too. A combination of shackles and AAl's will get you the same results in lift but will perform better than blocks.

  5. My buddy had blocks on his jeep and he never had any problems.

No offense, but I know for a fact that's a lie. Lift blocks create HORRIBLE axle wrap when offroading/ fast accelerating. I can GARUNTEE you that will happen. Now, for street driving, it's fine. You wont notice any difference whatsoever.

But if youre gunna wheel w/ it, use shackles and AALs. Trust me.

I guess another part of my question would be is there a set rule to follow if I were to go the shackle aal route in terms of how many leafs to add to get the desired height?

One long leaf will add 2 inches the shackles another 2-2.5 inches.

  9. add a leafs per pair are about 40 bucks still or was that a price from the past?

ok thanks. one of the reasons i ask is because i believe my truck already has blocks in the back from the factory so i definitely did not want to stack them and was looking to an alternative to any blocks. thanks for the help!

  11. They're alright to stack, just tighten down the U-bolts as much as possible lol

I always heard that stacking blocks was very dangerous

  13. Yes, stacking aftermarket blocks is. But the ones from the factory can have a block on top. The superlift kit gives you the 3" block for the rear.

I can say honestly, I have had my truck over 2 years, blocks and all....never had 1 issue at all. Do what you feel, but I can tell you from experience, everything on my truck has been fine. If the blocks were THAT bad...why would it be a part of the kit instead of shackles and AALS?

I appreciate all the input and i'm not saying one is better than the other. i don't have much experience in lifted trucks as i kept both of by previous 2 rangers stock height. i only asked because i already have the factory blocks and didn't know if stacking the superlift ones on top of them would be a bad idea.
