Hey guys. I'm thinkin about getting a locker. Are there different lockers for different gears? Does it matter what year truck I have as long as its a 7.5? How tough is it to install myself? Is $165 a decent price? Thanks.

I would desperately recommend finding an 8.8 if I wer you, but other than that , I am running the poertrax no-slip locker in mine and love it!! Would defiantly recommend spending more on the no slip because there is absolutely no ratcheting sound like you get with the regular one, and it is very easy to install , cones with step by step instructions

    What locker you looking at?

Doesnt matter what gear ratio you have either. I wouldnt put a locker in a 7.5 tho. They're not strong enough for it IMHO. Swap an 8.8 in it with a L/S and you'll be good to go.

I thought you were 4x4 tho? So that means you should have an 8.8, right?

Im getting my Aussie here in a couple weeks. Unfortunately they dont make a locker for the 7.5 OR 8.8 28 spline.

Only fx4s have 8.8s. I was only just skimming through eBay and found one for $165, probably wouldn't be the one I went with anyway. Mamba, are you running yours with a 7.5?

    I'm almost 100% sure I have a 7.5. I'll double check though

Even if you have a 7.5, IMO a locker will just destroy it if you wheel hard

  12. Yeah, I have the 8.8 with 4.10s and I only have an XLT.

    What's your gear ratio OB269? I have an 8.8 with 3.27's if you're interested.

  16. I was pointing out that not only the FX4's came with the 8.8, as in my quotes. Yes, I do have the 4.0, yes, I do have the towing package. So obviously I'm going to have it lol

    I'm at 3.73 now, but she's a 3.slow with 31s so if I dropped to 3.27 it would be a 3.stop..
I would love the 8.8 with l/s though..

What would it take for me to get l/s in my 7.5?

twice as much money as it would to buy an 8.8 with a L/S from a JY

This.. Dude your better off just getting an 8.8 . It's a simple swap and you won't have to worry about it

Find a junkyard rear with axle codes R5, R6, or R7

Probably your best chance is to find a R6
