Well I looked on both FRF and here for an answer and havent found a definite answer. I noticed that some members have installed EATC from explorers and other cars (cough cough Pooleo) and I was wondering if it was plug in play with no mods needed. Also, are they common for JY and expensive to buy from JY?

no, its a little work. Alot more if you want the automatic function of it. I just wired it up to manually control the temp. So I did not use the sensors and all that. So you need the head unit, the blend door acutator and the fans speed chip. It took me about 6 hours. But I lost 2 hrs cause the oem acutator had broke on me ERRR!
I have seen the EATC's work in explorers, arent they alot more dim than our HVAC? Also what benefits do they give you if I installed one?
I'm not too familiar with them. The auto feature is just set to a certain temp and just automatically kicks on?
yeah, it would auto control heat/air to keep the level. I honestly find tho since the ranger is so small, you can crack the window with the heat on and makes it comfortable. Now in the expedition, its so large the auto is nice, because without it, once it gets cold it take a while to change the temp thru out the truck.
My ranger is like that. I turn the heat off and it gets cold right away, never stays warm unless the heat is always on
How much harder is it with the auto features do you think? I was looking at doing this, mostly for cool factor, because realistically my Ranger heats up and cools down well. I am planning to put some more insulation in, mostly for noise control, (you drive a Ranger 3 days straight and see how well you hear the next day!) but also for heat/ac insulation.
Its not that bad. Just some more wiring and more time. I have those vent visors, so say in winter time, heat on full blast on the floor, window cracked about 2" (snow/rain cant come in) and its perfect
I love my window visors as well. Id love the auto feature especially for hot days. plus theres the coolness factor that the EATC adds that no silver or white HVAC can have.
