Start with a good set of tools from where ever you can afford to buy them but stick to a good manufacturer, i.e. Craftsman or SnapOn if you can afford them.
Then as you come across a situation where you need more buy them to fit what you need.

Combination wrenches can save you instead of open ends and box but get two of 3/8" to 3/4"' always handy.

A good torque wrench works and a set of Pry Bars.

Also, a tap set,
.

i have no tools of my own. dad and brother have so many i just steal theirs.

guess i shouls probably get my own collection going

Watch out for Gear Wrench, I have not had any luck with there tools.
Stick to big name brands and you will not go wrong.

Can ya be more spacific?

Sockets, wrenches. Various sizes in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2" drives. Combination wrenches, ratcheting wrenches, brake line wrenches. Breaker bars, torque wrench, pry bars, drill and bits, locktite.

Monkey wrenches
Hack saw
Screw drivers
Torx drivers
jig saw
Angle grinder
Pliers
Vice grips in a few sizes
Electrical tools. Voltmeter, soldering iron, etc.
Zip ties. Lots of them

Bunch more I'm forgetting. I just got a new 2 drawer mid box to add to my existing box (3 top drawer box w/ storage compartment above that, 2 lower drawers with big storage compartment) and everything is full lol.

Eaier to buy a good set of wrenches to get started and add to it as needed.

One thing I think is a good tool is a Multimeter, something that checks volts, amps, resistance, maybe even a buzzer for continuity checks, like is a bulb or fuse good or is a wire a complete loop or not.
Although the multimeter can work as a probe, get a good 12 Volt Probe, a long one is better than a short one.

Pff, what isn't in my tool box. Snap-on, Mac, Matco, Craps-man, Lisle, Sandisk, Kingstong (yes, I have computer parts in my tool box) Bic, Equate, Gearwrench.

Also, that's a cute tool box. You will outgrow that quickly if you get into anything serious.

You should try one of these ones on for size.
