I have an 89’ 2dr 2wd ranger that has recently started to melt the 60A alternator fuse in the fuse box under the hood. The little prongs that hold the fuse doesn’t hold the fuse firmly or well at all really.

last night was the worse, it melted my fuse, partially melted the plastic box where the prongs from the fuse slide into the box. It wouldn’t charge the battery and died twice due to the prongs not being very firm. Melted plastic doesn’t help but that was recent. Why would this happen in the first place?? Any ideas??? It gets SUPER HOT when the engine revs up. But not too hot when just idling (when a decent connection made). Please help my useless self!!!!
