What size allen wrench is used to remove the differential filler plug on my 98 ranger 4 cyl 2wd?
Tried 3/8 too big, 10mm to small. ten bolt cover plate.

It isn't an allen. It is 3/8" square. Just stick a 3/8" ratchet in there and use it. You may have to clean out any rust or debris but, that's all you need.

Got the job done, had a small leak at bottom of back plate, not sure of time frame, picked this truck last fall for use as a way to tow my utility
trailer and other things, been trying to sort all the issues it has, biggest problem has not yet been cleared, check engine light and ABS light on
changed VSS no improvement, seems like the abs system is causing this problem, no speedo ,using GPS to regulate speed on the road
