Every time I start up my '93 4.0l ranger, it'll start, go to high idle, then the rpm will drop until it almost stalls, after it almost dies the rpm will jump back up to high idle like it normally should. I thought I had a drain back issue with my fuel pump but it'll do this several times in a row when it's around 50-60 degrees in the morning. No check engine light, fuel filter and air filter have been changed.

Except with mine it starts fine once warmed up. Cold start on a 65 degreese ambiant temperature day will only cause it to only attempt to stall one. But it'll correct itself pretty quick. On a colder day when ambiant temp is 40-50 it'll attempt to stall more than once, anywhere from 2-5 times. On the colder ones, I have to rev the engine when it goes to stall, or it will stall. I have yet to attempt cleaning the MAF and buy a fuel pressure gauge to check for drain back.
