Trouble with Cylinder Head

Hello,

I'm attempting to remove the right cylinder head form my 2001 Ranger in order to repair a valve, but I am having a hell of a time getting the head free from the engine. I have removed the exhaust manifold and all the head bolts, but the head just won't budge. Any ideas or tips would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter

Double and TRIPLE check you did not miss a bolt (I've done that) and the use a long heavy duty screw driver or pry bar to pry up on the exhaust manifold ports or use a brass hammer to knock it loose.

do you have the factory shop manuals?

I have them, and if you need, I can look over/take pics of that section for you. But it will be tomorrow before I can get to it..... what size engine do you have?

I have looked and can find no more bolts. As far as I know, there are only eight bolts holding the cylinder head onto the block (besides the exhause manifold). Is this correct?

I do not have the factory shop manuals, but I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a look or take pictures. I have a 3.0 V6.

Thanks!

link works, but libray stopped allowing it's use shows too much useage and requires a local michigan ip address
