temperature issue.

my 2000 ranger xlt 3.0l v-6 has started heating up. noticed the temp gauge is climbing to the H instead of staying between c +h. as long as im driving all is fine but stopped at intersection or waiting in line at fast food is when it climbs. flushed cooling system 3 days ago and got clear water coming out and yes i had heater running during flush.still heating up, put in new thermostat and still heating up. burped the system, checked air temp from heater and its luke warm at best. so i know im not circulating coolant through whole system properly.put new temp sending unit in but still the same. so, am i correct in thinking it has to be the pump or the radiator itself being clogged up.any ideas would be great. thank you.
 
Good luck burping the system.
I recently replaced the radiator on my '98 XL w/ 2.5.
If you look, you'll notice the heater core sits above the engine and the radiator.
Hope you have a cherry picker to lift the front of the truck, because that's about what its gonna take to get the radiator higher than the heater core.
Mine took months to get all the air out of, and I'm still not 100% convinced its completely burped, but I don't have your overheating problems, either.
Your problem also sounds to me like bad water pump.
 
Good Question ! I would take the heater hoses loose and back flush the heater core. It maybe more than just one problem !
 
I'm thinking there's still some air trapped in the engine somewhere...probably on top of the heater core.....Why Ford?! Why?! :rolleyes:
