My 1998 Ford Ranger XLT needs a replacement rear drum brake back plate. Its got 10" rear brake drums, and Ford can no longer supply me a replacement back plate (passenger side). The plate was severely damaged when a brake shoe broke and was ejected out of the hub. You have to pull the axle out and remove the brake cylinder before you can unbolt the back plate and get it off, Now I can't find a replacement part anywhere. Ford shows a part number on their list, but no longer supplies the part. I'll pay good money for a new or used plate. It's the larger size plate for 10" drum brakes, not the more normal 9" drum size. It's the back plate that the shoes mount onto. I need the passenger side rear drum brake back plate. Can anyone out there help me get this part? Thanks!

Your only option is probably a salvage yard. The Explorer 1995-2001 should have the same backing plate. I checked Rock Auto and they only list the 9" backing plate. A used backing plate is just as good as a new one and will be considerably less expensive. Good luck! :)
